SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie announced more than $21 million in workforce development funding to help connect San Franciscans to stable, good-paying jobs while strengthening the city’s talent pipeline for local businesses. Managed by the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the grants will support community-based training programs, job centers, and industry-focused career placement efforts across the city.

The investment expands on Mayor Lurie’s Family Opportunity Agenda, which focuses on affordability, workforce access, childcare expansion, housing production, and education opportunities. Last year, OEWD connected more than 3,600 residents to jobs and careers through programs including CityBuild and the Public Safety Academy, which trains residents for frontline roles such as EMTs and street ambassadors.

City officias said the funding will help prepare residents for careers in healthcare, construction, hospitality, technology, and public service while supporting underserved communities facing barriers to employment. Workforce leaders added that the city’s long-term strategy includes career coaching, apprenticeships, and direct job placement programs designed to strengthen San Francisco’s economy and create pathways to long-term financial stability.
