On September 23rd, government, community, and corporate leaders gathered at the Urban League of Greater San Francisco Bay Area’s 2nd Annual Empowerment Awards and Garden Soiree at the Oakland Museum of California.

Attendees at this 2nd Annual Gala included State Treasurer Fiona Ma, California State Superintendent Tony Thurman, California Legislative Black Caucus Leader Lori Wilson, and Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, all of whom gathered to celebrate and support the Urban League Bay Area in creating a pathway to Economic Empowerment for All.

The Urban League of Greater San Francisco Bay Area, led by President Kenneth E. Maxey II, operates throughout the nine Bay Area counties to ensure that African Americans have access to a better future. Their programs range from job fairs and mentoring, leadership and technology training for youth, government leadership fellowships, uniting Bay Area communities to combat hate, celebrating community leaders, to ensuring the communities they serve have access to financial and health wellness.
