Our Commitment
For 82 years, the Sun-Reporter has published news that affects the lives of our community. Our readers trust us to report the truth accurately, fairly, and independently. This policy describes the standards our journalists hold themselves to and how we correct errors.
Accuracy
We verify information before publication, seek documentation and named sources wherever possible, and give the subjects of critical reporting a fair opportunity to respond. Headlines, photos, and captions are held to the same standard as our reporting.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are made independently of advertisers, donors, and political interests. No advertiser or funder determines, reviews, or approves news coverage. Where a conflict of interest exists, we disclose it.
Transparency
We identify the authors of our reporting, distinguish news from opinion, and label sponsored content. When reporting is supported by a specific grant or partnership, we disclose it.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and transparently. When we confirm published information is inaccurate, we update the article, note that a correction was made, and describe what changed. All correction requests are reviewed by the editorial desk under the supervision of the Publisher. To report an error, contact the editorial desk at sunreporter@sbcglobal.net or 415-671-1000.
